CLEAR INFORMATION IN ENGLISH AND DUTCH

Being an international enterprise, Wärtsilä Netherlands, like other similar companies, wants to provide its employees, visitors and suppliers with clear information. For this reason the company has decided to publish its company magazines, video’s, presentations, workshops, safety notices and press releases in Dutch and English.

In 2016, Wärtsilä was on the lookout for a solid linguistic partner with experience in the maritime sector and since then Wärtsilä can always rely on Exito Vertaalbureau for translations and editing and revising of text in English and Dutch.

WEHIGHLIGHTS MAGAZINE

Wärtsilä Netherlands publishes a digital magazine with personal interviews and photography that brings the sector and the people working to life. Most of the texts are written in Dutch by employees and copywriters.

It’s up to Exito to create the English versions. Every once in a while, there’s a translation in the opposite direction. Exito checks Dutch texts, confers with Sabine Bonenkamp and corrects where necessary. Then, a team of three translators gets to work on translating all of the texts into English, usually within a short timeframe. To do so, we use such tools as translation memories, glossaries and style guides created especially for Wärtsilä. The permanent team of native speakers then checks everything and performs final editing and proofreading.

A MAGAZINE THAT’S ENJOYABLE TO READ AND, NATURALLY, READY ON TIME

All of the translations are ready quickly and on time for publication, using the right jargon the desired tone of voice and taking into account the same terminology that was used before and recurring themes or special points of interest.

Because Exito also translates other documents, such as presentations or workshops about safety, press releases or newsletters, the team is well aware of what to communicate. The result is a timely, completely proofread digital magazine publication that is enjoyable to read in both English and Dutch.
